I never had any work experience, but i had a belief that i am good at practicals. From my childhood, i never scored well in theory ( the de-motivation factor ) but i had a belief that i am really good at practical, whatever it might be. I scored well in most of the LAB exams in my graduation. My project was recognized as the best project in my final year and i was really proud of it. Finally the time had come to prove the facts....
After my MBA, got placed in a multinational company. It took 2 months for me to know and understand my roles and responsibilities. But as said, you wont be a master unless you work on it. It became true for me.
I was waiting for a project for almost six months. I did whatever i could in the six months. Done initiatives ( which resembles the practicality of projects ) , I was the first one to finish the Certification among my peers. Contacted as many colleagues as possible it find out what actually happens in the projects. Six months can be considered as a huge bench time. There were frustration moments, there were lazy times, and also there were times where i used all my energy to thing positive about it.
Finally the day had come...
I got a call from my new manager and asked to come to a different location ( i was ready for that too... ) where there was project requirement. My First Project begins from now....
I am writing this blog to portray my thoughts and the understandings / Knowledge that i got for it. The experience that i got from that project was uncanny. My six months of research finally took a shape that might lead to success. I understood the highs and lows that i might face in the future. I worked 7 days a week to complete my task, but a foolish thing that i did was i couldnt communicate it properly. COMMUNICATION is the FIRST thing that everyone should in mind before you do anything. I was a guy who dont like to showoff and that became a disaster for me.
COMMUNICATION is nothing but, SMART WORK. I am a hard worker, i could say that proudly but i am not a smart worker. We need to communicate everything to our manager what ever we do, i am not talking about the quality of the work. I worked hard for late nights and tried to complete a work that i thought was really good (as per my standards) and i just showed the results not the amount of effort put in order to do that. As expected, my manager had completely different thing in his mind. The Result :- I was not recognized for my hard work, got thrashed for doing mistakes.
From that... there comes our second lesson -- INTENTIONS
Understand the Intentions of your manager, your colleague or anyone who is delivering the work to you. Be clear, don't let your hardwork go to waste...
To be continued ....
